Natural Approaches To Shingles

SHINGLES SHOPPING LIST

From a good supplier, buy the following essential oils – NOT from China unless nothing else is available:

Geranium
German Chamomile (small)
Lavender
Lemon
Thyme
4 oz. Spray bottle
4 oz. Lotion bottle

From the drug store:
Calomine lotion
Cotton balls

From the health food store:
Liquid Lecithin
Cat’s Claw Capsules

From the grocery store:
Baking soda
Coconut oil
Lemons
Molasses/honey

THE SHINGLES PROTOCOL

Mix 4 oz. Calomine lotion with:
10 drops German Chamomile
10 drops Lavender
Shake and apply to sores twice a day

Mix 3 drops of Geranium in:
1 teaspoon water
And apply to sores once a day

Massage rest of body (not sores) with:
2 tablespoons coconut oil
10 drops Geranium
10 drops Lavender
8 drops Lemon
2 drops Thyme

Wash hands well after applying.

Bathe in tub with 1 cup baking soda and three drops Lavender oil.

Take:
1 capsule Cat’s Claw as directed on bottle
(NAC, Quercetin and Zinc are also helpful to kick start the immune system)
1 teaspoon liquid Lecithin mixed with
1 teaspoon molasses/honey (coats and insulates nerve sheath)
1/4 lemon peel blenderized in one cup of water (super, bitter antiviral flavonoids – with juice is fine)

Antiviral Air Spray:
Mix 1/4 c. Water
10 drops Lemon
20 drops Thyme

Shake well and use around bed, on pillows and sheets, on surfaces, in bathroom, etc. Spray some on lightbulb before turning on as this helps keep down propagation of viruses on surfaces wherever the light hits – but according to the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine, they don’t know why thyme works this way).

The Calomine Lotion recipe can be used on chicken pox, and replaced with unscented petroleum jelly for cold sores and herpes. Helichrysum essential oil may also be used on cold sores like geranium, and may replace lavender.

***On a personal note, I have known six people with shingles, but only two would try this protocol based on Valerie Walwood’s books. The two who did told me their shingles had dried up within the week. The others I knew did not fare so well nor as quickly, and one suffered with them for six months.

Nelsie’s Best Facial Oil

My Personal Facial Oil

This is super antioxidant, supports cell repair, and replaces other products. You cannot do better, and at a minimal cost for quality! The carrier oils should be organic, and cold pressed if available.

Ingredients:

120ml Pomegranate carrier oil (2 oz.) OR Camelia carrier oil
12 ml Sea Buckthorn carrier oil (2-1/2 t.)
12ml Rosehip carrier oil (2-1/2 t.)
50 drops Carrot Seed essential oil (1/2 t.)

Instructions:

Blend the above in a sterile measuring cup, then poured into two glass dropper bottles. Keep the first away from heat and strong direct lighting, like in a dark bathroom or medicine cabinet. Keep the second wrapped up in the fridge until needed.

To use as a moisturizer, wash and rinse face, but while still wet, rub a few drops into facial skin and allow to air dry. At night, massage into skin and around eyes, then blot off excess with a warm damp washcloth. This will remove makeup, too.

Note: Rosehip oil, undiluted, is too strong for sensitive skin, and Sea Buckthorn, aside from being very pigmented, is strong, too. However, these berries have very high levels of Vitamin C and antoxidants. Further, Pomengranate and Camelia are very gentle, and have been used by Asian ladies for many centuries. Carrot Seed is typically used, diluted, for fine lines around the eyes, and a drop or two undiluted, for scarring.

On a personal note, I have been using this on my very fair skin for many years, and people frequently tell me how beautiful my complexion is. Further, they always think I am a lot younger than I am...so though starting up this regimen is a bit costly, I have found it to be well worth it.

By The Way…

I have a cooking blog at http://www.ShuckysKitchen.Wordpress.com if you would like to take a gander. The recipes are usually very simple and easy to make, very tasty, and some are very helpful; for example, I have a .PDF you can download on Keto breads, the recipes of which I’ve been collecting for a while. There are recipes to make with kids, and for kids, like edible play dough, and non-edible silly putty.

I have substitutions for people who have to switch up their diets but still want recipes for comfort foods they love, and some very unusual recipes thrown into the mix, too.

So check it out!

Rosacea?

Nutritional Approaches To Rosacea … sadly, there is no cure

Eat turmeric (1/2″ of the root daily) and cut out the gluten. It is not a digestible protein, for starters, and it causes inflammation throughout the body, including the joints and brain.

Use only fermented dairy (yogurt, cheeses, and sheep or goat products are better than bovine because of the shorter proteins).

Eat porridge frequently, as it draws toxins and heavy metals from the gut.

Keep SAM-e tablets around for flare-ups, and use like aspirin but without harm to the gastro-intestinal tract.

Antioxidant Facial Oil

Clean a small bottle (like the ones at the dollar store) and  spray it with alcohol before filling with:

10 ml Rosehip Oil / Sea Buckthorn Oil (strong antioxidants)
90 ml Coconut Oil (the liquid form; it is a drying oil that liquifies sebum in the pores, and is better for young or oily complexions) or Grapseed Oil (very toning, for normal to dry complexions)
50 drops Fennel Essential Oil (to encourage subdermal collagen production)

Use a few drops as a make-up remover. For bed time, just massage into the skin, rinse with tepid water, and pat dry, adding a little more around the eyes if needed. As a daytime moisturizer, massage a few drops into your skin, gently rinse, and blot dry.

Rosacea Facial Mist

Into a small spray bottle (prepared as above) put in:

120 ml Distilled Water
36 drops Lavender Essential Oil

Use to mist the face several times a day. If you want a product that sets your makeup, add 1/2 t. vegetable glycerine.

Sun Damage Prevention & Repair Spritz

I store this in the fridge, but keep some it in a small spray bottle in my purse…very nice to use in summer traffic jams!

7 oz. Rosewater or Orange Blossom Water
2 T. Glycerine
1 t. Ascorbic acid powder
12 drops Lavender Essential Oil (optional)

Pour into a sterile glass jar, shake well, and keep in the fridge. Fill a small sterile spray bottle for daily use, replenishing the spritz bottle as necessary.

1992 research at University of Maryland showed that topical application of a 10% solution of ascorbic acid (a common synthetic form of vitamin C) prevented sun damage to skin. If applied once or more daily, no sunscreen was found to be necessary.

This did not act as a sunblock. It was found that the vitamin C was absorbed into the skin’s cells and prevented ultraviolet damage to the DNA. This solution can also be applied after burning to reverse damage already sustained, as there was some indication that it could reverse past sun damage.

Because it is not washed off, you will still tan and continue to make vitamin D. Having no apparent side effects, unlike retinal, you may continue to expose your skin to moderate sun.

First Aid For Sunburn

Once, when he was 15, my platinum-haired son went canoeing and took off his shirt when he got too hot. Thankfully he was wearing a baseball cap, but he came back quite red. The next morning he was purple, with streaks down to where his pants had covered him, and he was quite sick.

I did what the doctor had prescribed when it had happened to me, keeping him in a dark room to sleep and hydrating him as much as possible when the blisters came up. But one of the things that helped to sooth our whole family whenever they had sunburn was a lavender tapioca gel I made. This he slathered on when he was up and around again.

Bring to the boil:
1-1/2 c. Water.

In a jar, shake 1/2 c. water with:
2 T. Instant Tapioca (arrowroot or cornstarch will do in a pinch).
Pour this into the boiling water and whisk until thick, then take off the heat.

When almost cool, whisk in:
75 drops Lavender essential oil.

Pour into a clean jar and keep it in the fridge. Discard it after a few days, and make up new batches whenever needed. Use this as a soothing natural gel for sunburn.

It’s About Those Cataracts

I was told two years ago that I have baby cataracts not worth operating on as yet, so I had tried a very expensive over-the-counter product , and found it really helped. But a couple of months ago I started finding the cataracts progressively annoying, as if Vaseline were in my one eye.

So I did some research and wound up making myself some eye drops with a dilution of colloidal silver and NAC. Again, I am amazed by the results.

Anyone facing loss of visual acuity might want to do some research on this, and decide for yourself in which direction you might want to go. Especially since the medical profession no longer aims to ‘cure, heal, and do none harm’, but instead to monitor and control symptoms. So though Diabetes It is considered to be reversible in the early stages with drastic changes in nutrition, but most people are told it is incurable; thus the disease progresses along with an advancing pharmacological protocol that keeps the industry’s profits going while the disease ravages your body. Having had this disease impact me personally, I am not happy with the less than altruistic focus of today’s medical profession except in cases of trauma and certain illnesses.

And I am one of those people that will not have a vaccine if there is mercury, aluminum, or human body tissues in its manufacture. I have seen what they do first hand, I have researched the problem, and I know practicing physicians who will not allow their children to have them. I believe I am in excellent company.

Just remember, always keep things sterile whenever you opt for home remedies. And of course, do your own research!

Chamomile and Oat Moisturizing Hand Scrub

Chamomile and Oat Moisturizing Hand Scrub

1/2 c. Cornstarch
1/2 c. Glycerin
1/4 c. Chamomile tea, very strong infusion
2 T. Sweet Almond, Calendula or Arnica Oil
2 T. Oatmeal, very finely ground
2 T. Rice, very finely ground

Use a spice grinder for the oats and rice. Heat the glycerin and slowly add the cornstarch, stirring constantly to make a paste. Take off the heat and slowly stir in the chamomile infusion, then the oil, and finally the ground oats and finely ground rice. Store in a wide-mouthed jar or tin and use in the same way as you would a hand soap. It should keep for up to 2 months.

A Quick Update

So far, since using my colloidal silver solution, my own eyes are feeling so much better (I have a torn vitreous), and I am spraying the solution on my itchy places and on a benign cancer I have (don’t want to go through the cutting and scraping again when it just grows back). The itch has stopped, and the growth went from a charcoal to taupe in three days. I am impressed. Now I’m going to attack some skin tags. I have also started sipping a little…it tastes good, like fresh rain. I love it.

I do a lot of volunteering with the marginalized community as well as give treatments using complementary therapies for our local hospice, so I come into contact with a lot of people with various illnesses. I can’t give my colloidal silver out to hospice patients, of course, but to the folks on the street or in rooming houses who cannot afford much of anything, I am giving this out as they need it. I just gave one friend what would have cost $180 in the health food store, because it cost me less than $3.00! He is battling cancer as well as diabetes, but his wife is in a wheelchair and they cannot get the help they need from community nursing. He was grateful to try anything that might help him keep his strength up so he can care for her.

Another gentleman, a widower I know, has two cancers, one being on his skin. He’s been using it on facial lesions that won’t heal, and he says it is helping. All I know is two weeks ago I was worried, he was fading so fast and turning grey, now he seems much better again and has some colour back. If he wants to try drinking it, he’ll get his own big bottle, too.

But I am getting used to this sort of thing. Maybe it’s just having someone to care about you, but it seems whenever I get end-stage folks and do treatments, my assignment often runs out before they do…then months later I am called back in. And I know the power of herbs when people not getting treatments will actually used them. There are amazing cures the physicians know nothing about – but there is no money in that, is there!

(If you have premenopausal floods, is there a fast stop to that! No hysterectomy, no chemical castration, as I was offered. Just an herbal stop to it all. Just get in touch with me of the famous herbalist in the US, Susan Weed.)

In fact I once taught someone how to nurse a friend after the surgeon gave up and just closed her back up. I loaned them some heavy duty texts and gave them a regimen of raw fruits and juices to try with her friend. They followed it religiously, and a month later the surgeon and oncologist were stumped as they couldn’t find any cancer. She was still alive and thriving a year later. Meanwhile another woman i heard about at the same time and much younger, was told to only eat Ensure and tapioca by her oncologist. I shared how well the ‘dying’ woman was doing, but the mutual acquaintance there would not go against the doctor and feed her raw fruits and juices with the much needed enzymes, and she succumbed within a few weeks (as the other woman was supposed to have done) leaving a young child and husband behind.

I guess the Lord either wants me to be encouraged by His wondrous love, or give many of the people I’ve personally come across to have just a little more time here, because I have certainly been blessed to have such lovely folks in my life who seem to do so well after just a little tender loving care.

Soon…
